The president of the Tximist Foundation, at the UEFA Women’s Champions League event

The anticipation for the UEFA Women's Champions League final, to be held on May 25 at the San Mamés stadium, continues to grow. Among the key figures in this event is Aintzane Encinas, the distinguished president of the Tximist Foundation.

During the presentation of the event, Aintzane Encinas highlighted the Foundation’s commitment to women’s sports. She emphasized its role in pushing women’s soccer to new levels of success and recognition. In addition, the Foundation’s presence at this event underlines the importance of collaboration between organizations dedicated to women’s sports and major institutions such as UEFA.

A Final Beyond Sport

The UEFA Women’s Champions League final will not only be an exciting match between the best two teams in Europe. It will also serve as a celebration of progress and a reminder of the work still needed to achieve full gender equality in sport.

The organizers want the final to go beyond football. Their goal is to create a celebration of soccer that also promotes respect, inclusion, and diversity.

Voices of Women’s Football

To strengthen this message, past, present, and future stars of women’s football took part in the event. Among them was Irene Paredes, world champion with Spain. She recalled:

“I was that little girl who dreamed of playing in Champions League finals and matches in places like San Mamés. That is why I am proud to belong to the generation that is changing the rules of the game, and also proud of those who fought before me to get here.”

Nadine Kessler, UEFA’s Head of Women’s Football, also joined the presentation via video call. She noted:

“Spain is currently one of the global epicenters of women’s football. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate it than by bringing Europe’s top two clubs together in Bilbao, at San Mamés. On May 25, the eyes of the sporting world will be on us. We hope to create more history for women’s football.”
