Uik upv university course leadership

A step forward in women’s leadership in sport!

On July 7–8, we hosted an unforgettable experience at the Miramar Palace in Donostia with the launch of our first university-certified course: “Leadership and Empowerment for Women in Sport”, in collaboration with the University of the Basque Country (UIK).

This inaugural edition brought together 20 women in person and many more online, expanding our She Leads network and reaffirming our commitment to gender equality and female leadership in sport.

A transformational program

Over two intense days, participants learned from leading experts such as:

  • Aintzane Encinas (President, Tximist Foundation)

  • Eli Sarasola (player development expert in Vantage)

  • Yon Berastegui (sports psychology professor at UPV/EHU)

  • Ainara Manterola (founder of Zuhegan)

  • Ane Sanchez (Academy Coach in Real Sociedad)

Key topics included transformational leadership, effective communication, gender-sensitive management, sports innovation, and visibility of women in elite sports.

Why is this training important?

Women play a vital role across all levels of sport—as coaches, managers, directors or decision-makers. Yet, female representation is still lacking, especially in leadership roles.

This course was designed to break those barriers, providing practical tools for women to lead with impact and confidence, while building strong support networks.

We keep growing

This first course has been a resounding success. With every session, meeting and shared story, we continue creating real spaces for women in sport.

So much learning and so much fun!
Congratulations to all the participants—this is just the beginning!
