Last Wednesday, December 4, the Gipuzkoa Football Women’s Network held a new day at the Ipurua stadium, with the aim of making visible and giving value to the role of women in different areas of soccer, from sports management to the field of play. The event, which was well attended, was moderated by Aintzane Encinas, former Real Sociedad professional player and president of the Tximist Foundation.
During the event, four women leaders in sports management shared their professional careers and the challenges they have faced to reach their current positions. The speakers included Begoña Larzabal (Real Sociedad), Alicia Figueroa(Askatuak), Oneida Zubia (Gipuzkoako Futbol Federazioa) and Arrate Fernández (SD Eibar), who offered inspiring testimonials about the evolution of their careers and the impact of soccer as a driver of social change.
In the second part of the event, the conversation focused on top-level soccer, with the participation of Ane Campos (SD Eibar), Mirari Uria (Real Sociedad) and Ana Rodríguez, former Eibartarrak player. They discussed the historic women’s derby that will take place this coming December 8 at Ipurua, recalling iconic moments such as the Super Cup won 25 years ago by Eibartarrak.
Aintzane Encinas, in addition to moderating the debate, reflected on the importance of continuing to work for greater visibility of women in soccer and stressed the need to fill the stadiums and spaces where events like this are held. “The growth of women’s soccer is evident, but it is vital that as a society we also support it from the stands and the media,” Encinas stressed.
The Tximist Foundation, committed to gender equality and the promotion of women’s leadership in soccer, strongly supports this type of initiative. “We believe in the creation of spaces for meeting and reflection that strengthen the network of women in sport, especially in a territory with such richness and soccer tradition as Gipuzkoa,” stressed the president of the foundation.
This event is one more example of the commitment of the Tximist Foundation with the education in values and the generation of female referents in the sports field, fundamental pillars of its mission. From the foundation, we thank all the people who participated and attended the event and reiterate our commitment to continue promoting these initiatives.
